Caving
At the foot of the world's deepest chasm, the Jean Bernard chasm at Foilly, the Haut Giffre massif is rich in lapiaz and limestone layers crossed by some of the world's most famous galleries.
The Bureau des Guides du Haut Giffre invites you to discover the Mégevette and Balme caves. These risk-free introductory networks can be explored in all weathers, with no difficult passages to negotiate. For the more adventurous, there's the “vertical caving” of the Jean Bernard, or long traverses such as the Diau or the Merveilleuse.
